Aeros surge past Senators in third period, grab Game 1

Jed Ortmeyer’s two goals, both coming on assists from left winger Colton Gillies and defenseman Marco Scandella, helped the Aeros overcome an second-period bobble by goalkeeper Matt Hackett and take a 1-0 series lead before an enthusiastic crowd of 8,018 that was just a few hundred fans short of capacity in Toyota Center’s 8,939-seat lower bowl.
